Album Review: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – “Push the Sky Away” (2013)

Hands down, one of the most solid albums I’ve heard in years.

A large part of it comes from the control exhibited by Nick Cave. He’s traditionally been heavily dramatic as though listening to him sing is akin to the experience of watching theater. I dig the restraint. The music, as always, is timeless.
Their last album, Dig Lazarus, Dig seemed to trade a bit of solidity for ambition. Push the Sky Away knows exactly what it is all the way through. It doesn’t have anything to prove, especially to you.
